Exterior dimensions

The Lightning measures 5,911 mm in length, slightly shorter than some long-bed petrol models but right in line with other SuperCrew 5.5-ft trucks. At 2,032 mm wide excluding mirrors and 2,438 mm including them, it’s a vehicle that fills a lane. If you’ve looked at the SuperCrew 6.5-ft petrol variant, the Lightning is a touch easier to place simply because it isn’t quite as long.

Its 1,989 mm height makes it tall enough for that commanding pickup-truck stance while still clearing many 2.0-m multi-storey car park limits. As always, older garages can be more restrictive, so signage matters.

Cabin & seating

As a SuperCrew, the Lightning seats up to five people, with generous room in both rows. One of the immediately noticeable differences from a petrol or diesel F-150 is the completely flat floor, which improves comfort for rear passengers and makes loading bulky items inside the cabin easier.

Where the Lightning gains major practicality is the front trunk, which is a benefit of not having a traditional engine bay. Unlike the petrol F-150s, this gives secure, weatherproof storage for luggage, groceries or work gear without sacrificing bed space.

Cargo bed capacity

The bed provides 1,495 litres of load volume, matching the short-bed petrol SuperCrew trucks. For most daily needs, that balance of bed size and cabin space works perfectly, though if you regularly carry long materials, the larger petrol 6.5-ft or 8-ft beds found on Regular Cab and SuperCab models still offer more outright capacity.

It’s also worth noting that many Lightning owners end up relying heavily on the frunk for day-to-day storage, which effectively offsets the shorter bed compared with the long-bed petrol versions.

Wheelbase & manoeuvrability

Its 3,696 mm wheelbase is broadly similar to the long-wheelbase SuperCrew in the petrol range, so you can expect a stable motorway feel and a turning radius typical of a full-size pickup. The Lightning’s 14.6-metre turning circle sits in the same ballpark as the SuperCrew 4×4 models.

Low-speed manoeuvres, however, are noticeably smoother thanks to the EV drivetrain’s precise throttle control.

Ground clearance

The Lightning offers 213 mm of ground clearance, slightly lower than off-road-focused petrol F-150 variants. It’s fine for gravel tracks and uneven worksites, but if maximum ride height is a priority, trucks like the Regular Cab 4×4 6.5-ft or SuperCab 4×4 6.5-ft still sit higher.

While the Lightning doesn’t offer the long-bed configurations found elsewhere in the F-150 lineup, it compensates with EV refinement, instant torque and a highly practical frunk.
